Here’s a look at the 14 different models/ trimlines Dodge is currently offering for the 2017 Dodge Challenger, arranged by engine type, with brief descriptions of the key features available in each option.
3.6L Pentastar® V6 Engine
Similar to previous years, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine is yet again the base model engine, available in the SXT, SXT Plus and GT All-Wheel Drive trimlines. Though it’s the standard model engine, it’s anything but basic – with dual overhead camshafts, exhaust ports, high-flow intake and 268 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • The SXT is the base model of all 2017 trimlines, with a 305-HP 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, 8-speed automatic transmission, 18-inch wheels, cloth seats, Uconnect® 5.0 and dual-zone automatic temperature control.
  • The SXT Plus has the same drivetrain specs, with both models getting an average fuel economy of 19/30 mpg (city/highway). Additional features of the SXT Plus include Uconnect® 8.4, SiriusXM® satellite radio, ParkSense® rear park assist, silver interior detailing, 20-inch wheels and temperature controlled Nappa leather performance seats.
  •  The GT All-Wheel Drive features the same drivetrain and powertrain specs as the SXT and SXT Plus models with added all-weather capabilities, giving you the confidence to take on any challenge in the strongest muscle car in America (no matter which model you choose!). Due to the all-wheel drive functionality, this model has slightly less efficient fuel economy than the other V6 options, with an estimated 18/27 mpg (city/highway).
5.7L HEMI® V8 Engine
The 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine is a legend for obvious reasons: unrivaled performance capabilities with impressive efficiency, 375 horsepower and a whopping 410 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is offered in six different trimlines, with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 8-speed automatic available at an additional cost:
  • The R/T is the base Hemi-powered model available in the 2017 Challenger lineup. Many of its features are similar to the SXT model, including similar cloth seats, the 5.0 Uconnect® setup and all the other luxurious features that come standard in quality new Dodge vehicles. It comes with 20-inch premium painted aluminum wheels and a red decklid spoiler, and gets an average mpg of 16/25 (city/highway).
  • The R/T Plus comes with the same drive and powertrain details as the R/T, with added features including one-of-a-kind 20-inch forged/painted aluminum wheels, SiriusXM® satellite radio and the upgraded Uconnect® setup. Fuel economy remains the same between the standard and Plus options.
  • The R/T Shaker features similar features to the R/T, including the baseline Uconnect® 5.0 system and cloth seats, but also comes with a SHAKER hood and graphics, a sleek gloss black grille insert, black fuel door and rear spoiler.
  • The R/T Shaker Plus offers everything the R/T Shaker does, with added luxury features such as heated/cooled Nappa leather performance seats, the upgraded Uconnect® 8.4 system, a performance steering wheel and more. The fuel economy for both the R/T Shaker and R/T Shaker Plus is the same as the R/T and R/T plus, at 16/25 mpg (city/highway).
  • The T/A is similar to the Challenger R/T, with added dual-illuminated air catcher headlamps, a stained black hood, 20-inch black Mopar wheels, an SRT 392 hood with a Mopar cold air intake kit, 6-piston Brembo performance brakes, a three-mode electronic stability control system and much more. The T/A gets an average 15/23 mpg (city/highway).
  • If you like the look of the T/A but crave an extra touch of luxury and interior comfort, the T/A Plus might be right up your alley. It comes with all the same specs and features, plus heated/cooled Nappa leather seats, the upgraded Uconnect® 8.4 setup, the Dodge performance leather steering wheel and an impressive six-speaker sound system.
392 HEMI® V8 Engine
The 392 HEMI® V8 engine delivers an impressive 485 horsepower, 475 lb.-ft. of torque and is capable of going 0-60 mph in the lower 4-second range and a full quarter-mile in the mid 12-second range, making it a standout in its class. This engine is available in four different models/trimlines, all of which come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  • The R/T Scat Pack looks quite similar to the R/T, but with unique wheels, Scat Pack Grille Badging, a new front and rear spoiler, sport tuned suspension setup and the upgraded Uconnect 8.4 system. Anyone looking for the most bang for their buck when it comes to purchasing a new American muscle car should strongly consider this model. It, along with the 392 HEMI® Scat Pack Shaker and SRT® 392, gets an estimated 15/25 mpg (city/highway).
  • The T/A 392 builds upon the R/T Scat Pack, adding 6-piston Brembo performance brakes, dual-illuminated air catcher headlamps, an SRT 392 hood with a Mopar cold air intake kit, a specially tuned front Bilstein suspension setup, lightweight 20-inch wheels, 392 fender badges, T/A fender stripes, an active, high-performance exhaust system, T/A embroidered seats and much more. The T/A 392 gets up to 14/23 mpg (city/highway).
  • The 392 HEMI® Scat Pack Shaker is the perfect option for anyone who loves the R/T Shaker but is looking for a bit more power, as this offers all the best features of the Shaker package plus the Scat Pack package, making it the best of both worlds.
  • The SRT® 392 comes with a long list of high-performance accessories and systems, including configurable drive modes, the SRT® flat-bottom steering wheel, the same adaptive suspension kit seen in the Hellcat, a front-mounted hood scoop, heated/cooled leather seats and the premium Uconnect® system. It’s essentially the Hellcat, just without the supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 engine.

Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® SRT Hellcat V8 Engine

The supercharged 6.2L HEMI® SRT Hellcat V8 engine is the epitome of what a muscle car’s engine should be. Its pavement-pounding 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque make it the most powerful muscle car available on the market.
  • The SRT® Hellcat gets up to 13/21 mpg (city/highway) and is loaded with impressive features, such as an available class-exclusive TorqueFlite® 8-speed automatic transmission, 20x9.5” matte black forged aluminum slingshot wheels, a fully loaded and luxurious interior plus a unique exterior to match its unrivaled performance capabilities.
