The Legend of Chuck the Duck
Mobile Bay Born. Jeep Raised. Ducking Good Savings.
Long before Chuck the Duck became the feathered face of ducking good savings at Chuck Stevens Jeep, he was just a little yellow duck with big dreams, a bright orange bill, and an unusual fascination with seven-slot grilles.
The Legend of Chuck the Duck
Chuck was born on the muddy shores of Mobile Bay, Alabama, to two hardworking waterfowl: Walter "Waddles" Duckworth and Betty Lou Quackenbush.
Walter operated a small but respected bait-and-tackle business called Waddles' Worms & Things. Betty Lou taught advanced swimming at the local YMCA-Young Mallards' Coastal Association.
From the beginning, everyone knew Chuck was different.
While the other ducklings were learning to swim, Chuck was standing beside the causeway watching Jeeps drive by.
His first word wasn't "Mama."
It was:
"WRANGLER!"
Chuck Goes to School
Chuck attended the prestigious Mobile Bay School of Duckonomics, where he majored in Automotive Savings with a minor in Advanced Quacketing.
He was an excellent student, although his teachers frequently complained that he spent too much time in the parking lot.
His senior thesis was titled:
"Why Pay More When You Can Waddle Away With a Better Deal?"
It earned him an A+ and remains required reading among financially responsible waterfowl throughout Baldwin County.
Chuck later attended Mallard University of Lower Alabama, better known as MULA.
There, he became president of the Jeep Wave Club, captain of the competitive puddle-jumping team, and founder of the campus organization Ducks Against Paying Too Much for Vehicles.
Their motto?
"Keep your bills low and your suspension high."
Chuck Discovers Bay Minette
After graduation, Chuck packed everything he owned into a tiny waterproof suitcase and headed north.
Eventually, he waddled into Bay Minette, Alabama, where he spotted something that would change his life forever:
A Jeep.
Then another Jeep.
Then another.
Chuck had found paradise.
He followed the trail of Wranglers until he arrived at Chuck Stevens Jeep.
Chuck looked at the sign.
Then he looked at his own chest.
"CHUCK?"
He looked back at the sign.
"CHUCK STEVENS?"
Chuck immediately concluded this could not possibly be a coincidence.
He had found his destiny.
The Birth of "Ducking Good Savings"
Chuck quickly discovered that selling Jeeps wasn't enough.
He wanted people to save money buying them.
So he developed his own philosophy:
DUCKING GOOD SAVINGS.
Chuck believes buying a vehicle should be exciting-not something that makes you want to fly south permanently.
He patrols the dealership looking for savings, checking out Wranglers, inspecting trades and occasionally staring suspiciously at the finance office.
Nobody actually hired him.
He just showed up one morning and never left.
Eventually everyone stopped asking questions.
Chuck and the Jeep Wave
Today, Chuck is a proud member of the Jeep Wave.
If Chuck sees a Wrangler coming down the road, that little wing goes up.
Sometimes both wings go up.
Unfortunately, this usually causes him to fall over.
But Chuck takes the Jeep Wave seriously.
He especially loves Jeep Wranglers because, according to Chuck:
"Doors come off. Top comes off. Ducks stay on."
His perfect day involves sunshine, an Alabama beach, a Wrangler with the top off, and absolutely no discussion about why there's sand all over the seats.
Chuck's Rules for Life
Chuck lives by a few simple rules:
- Never pay more than you have to.
- Always wave at another Jeep.
- If you see a Wrangler, admire it.
- If you buy a Jeep, duck it.
- If somebody asks where to find Ducking Good Savings, send them to Bay Minette.
These days, Chuck proudly calls Chuck Stevens Jeep in Bay Minette, Alabama home.
You'll find him hanging around the dealership, talking about Wranglers, looking for his next adventure and helping spread the word about Ducking Good Savings.
He may have been born near Mobile Bay...
But Chuck was born to Jeep.
